Band
Miller Jr. High Bands
Welcome to band at Miller Jr. High. The music program in the Aberdeen School District has a long and rich history of excellence and our band classes aim to continue that tradition. We currently have three main band classes. Blue Band (intermediate), White Band (Advanced), and Jazz Band. We host several performances each year at Miller Jr. High as well as performances in collaboration with the Aberdeen High School bands, Music Boosters Auction, and various music festivals. Band is something that has so many benefits. Students in band learn skills such as playing an instrument, reading music, and expressing feeling using sound. They also develop more practical skills such as teamwork, leadership, practice, patience, self-motivation, confidence, creativity, and responsibility, among many others. Most importantly, the ability to make music gives students an opportunity to express themselves. It is a skill that musicians can have and use forever, whether it is for their own enjoyment or the enjoyment of others. Band is also a place where we try to make students feel welcome, because sometimes the only thing that keeps students going is being involved in an activity such as band.
